Federal Law
45. Patent Law (Title 35)

Patent law in the United States is governed by federal statute, primarily the Patent Act, which is found in Title 35 of the U.S. Code. A patent for an invention is the grant of a property right to the inventor, issued by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). A patent gives its owner the exclusive right to prevent others from making, using, selling, or importing the patented invention for a limited period.
