32. Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA)

The Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) of 2002, which was reformed and updated by the Federal Information Security Modernization Act of 2014, is a U.S. federal law that makes it a requirement for federal agencies to develop, document, and implement an agency-wide program to provide information security. The law's provisions can be found in 44 U.S.C. §§ 3551-3558. It recognizes the importance of information security to the economic and national security interests of the United States.
