22. Equal Credit Opportunity Act

The Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA) is a federal law that makes it illegal for any creditor to discriminate in any aspect of a credit transaction. It is part of the Consumer Credit Protection Act and is codified at 15 U.S.C. § 1691 et seq. The law is enforced by several agencies, including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Department of Justice (DOJ).
