2. Admiralty Law
Admiralty law, also known as maritime law, is a distinct body of law that governs nautical issues and private maritime disputes. It is codified in various sections of the U.S. Code, primarily Title 46 (Shipping). It includes both domestic law on maritime activities, and private international law governing the relationships between private entities that operate vessels on the oceans. This body of law is one of the oldest in the world, with roots stretching back to ancient seafaring civilizations.
